Being able to make text corrections in ai-files directly in indesign

Aug 12, 2011 12:28 AM

I layout many reports, including many figures, made in illustrator.

A big wish is to be able to make text corrections in ai-files directly in indesign, as this feature will make me able to make a search-and-correct specific words. Now I have to open each single figure and make the correction in illustrator…

Hope others would benefit from this feature as well, so it will be incorporated into the next edition of Indesign!

Best regards and a wonderful weekend to everyone!

    Sorry, I desagree comletely.

Why are you not making the text in InDesign? Ai has a complete different text engine than Id or Ic.

It is easy to click with the Direct Selection tool and the Alt-key on a vector and open this ai file. If you want to search and replace, do it in Ai, if you work in different Ai fileds, put them together into one single ai file and use multiple art boards.

I'd rather see more text options in InDesign than some half-arsed implemented Photoshop/Acrobat/Illustrator functionality which almost -- but not entirely -- duplicates the behavior in the original.
