I am new to editing and am using Elements 9 on my MacBok Pro and iMac.
After I have edited an image with number for example P102022.RW2 (from a Lumix gf1) in the RAW editor and save, I open again in the editor to make light and colour changes.
I save the image to "Include in the Elements Organizer" and to "Save in Version Set with Original".
This gives me a file number P102022_edited-1.RW2.
When I view the images in the organizer it does not show the edited image but a grey image, same size with a logo in the middle that looks like a greyed out image ripped diagonally across the middle.
There are no properties attached to this image.
If I right click and choose "Edit with Photoshop Elements" the image will open in the editor.
Can anyone tell me why I cannot view the edited image in the Organizer ?
I would attach a screen shot of the greyed out image if I knew how.
If you select one of the grayed out images and press F5, does a thumbnail appear? You don't have iphoto or another program involved in the workflow anywhere, do you?
she’s gone to cook her turkey for Thanksgiving
How did you guess?
hi rich happy t day.
i have the same problem with organizer 9 for mac osx,
i would edit shots and save them into the orgaziner...nothing was there when i checked the organizer.
i solved it by seperately reimporting the shots .... apple shift g... and imported the edits that were supposd to be there.
then started using bridge again!
if u have greyboxs and no real images / picture iin them, AND IF U HAVE AN ORGINAL PICTURE elseware !!!!
select the greyboxs in organzer window, hold down CONTROL on the grey box and in the dropdown
menu u should select DELETE from CATALOG ONLY.
after the pictures are gone, reinstall the picutres .....apple shift G.....
but not the originals!!!!!!
Is this only happening for raw files, or for any version sets?
As an experiment, what happens if you edit a raw file and save the converted file as a new image? Keep Include in Organizer turned on, but not Save in Version Set with Original. Do you get a thumbnail then?
This is what I eventually found.
If I Un-tick "Save in Version Set with Original" it will put that image in the organizer next to the original.
I have to keep it ticked until after I have entered a format.
If I try to change the format with it un-ticked, the extension (for example) .jpg or .tif in the "Save As:" window will not change.
So I have to make sure I un-tick the box last thing before I Save.

i had the same problem with FILE FORMAT designation when i firts started PE, and tried this:
uninstalled everything. reinstalled everything. removed preferences. extentions turned on. extentions turned off.
final result --- works (sort of)
1. when i open a raw nef file in orgnaizer 9.02, i have to save the original as a nef file (my nikon raw format).
2. after the raw file is saved, i can then "save-as" the pix and i can get the extentions to change if i check the "save as version".
3. i then uncheck the "save as version box" and from then on the extentions chnage as they should.
