Can you share an entire project and not just documents?

I am co-writing a project and I want to share the entire project. It seems odd that I would have to create all the documents and then "allow" my co-author to see them. I'd like both of us to be able to create and share files in the same project. Is this possible? Maybe it does this automatically? I could not find any documentation on this, it seems like you have to set the sharing on each file and can't share the entire project.

Looking forward to the ability to share a whole project as development moves forward. It's tedious to manage permisions across multiple documents and resources.
