I look after the website for an international organisation many of whose members will have either slow connections or slow computers. Becuase of this I have made use of the rather primative create web photo album command in DW CS4, and knocked it into shape with find and replace.
I am planning to upgrade, and see that the photo album has disapeared from the new versions. Does anyone know of a similar (non-Flash) alternative? I need to put captions on the photos.
Thank you

My albums have a lot of photos in them, but there dosn't seem to be a quick way of adding photos to this album.
Also, is there a way of adding a caption?
As per description on the widget page:
This widget creates a sample lightbox gallery. It adds by default 5 sample thumbs linked to their original images You just need to replace the thumbs and their linked images and add a description for each one using the title attribute
Using DW it is merely a matter of pointing to the image in your gallery as per

You might want to look at this website at http://indianawildlifeartists.org/gallery.htm I use visuallightbox.com It is free for noncomercial use but includes the name on each photo. I like it because I can put captions with it; however, for those of us who are not the techiest, it takes a little bit of doing to get the gallery in the right place by doing the insert to page way. Also, it took a bit of doing to add headings and insert multiple galleries on the same page; however, I looked for other alternatives and this seemed to fit my situation better. I normally save the photos to the size that I want in Photoshop before using visuallightbox. Save the "project" and then you can add more photos to that "project". Hope this helps.
God bless you.
Thank you, it's a nice looking gallery, I think I can use it, although neither of the galleries suggested can handle large quantities of photos in the way that the one in DW CS4 could do.
I'm wondering if it would be within my capabilities to try to record commands and make something up myself.
Look at JAlbum Photo Gallery Creation Software. It can handle as many or as few photos and galleries as you require. JAlbum takes an entire folder of photos on your hard drive, makes the HTML pages and thumbnail images for you. A huge time saver with lots of skins (styles) to choose from.

Save the Galleries to your DW Local Site Folder. Use DW to upload them to your site.
