Has anyone heard rumers as to when Captivate version 6 might be released?
When Captivate 5.5 came out around the middle of this year there were some grumblings about the fact that it was not a free update from Captivate 5.
At that time Adobe made statements to the effect that they were moving from an 18 month development cycle to a 24 month cycle that involved a major version change (e.g. version 5.0) every second year, with.5 "mid-cycle" releases in between.
Here is a page on the official Adobe website that says of CS 5.5:
"This launch marks a major change to Adobe’s product release strategy for Creative Suite, the industry-leading design and development software for virtually every creative workflow across print, video, mobile and online media. Adobe now plans to have milestone Creative Suite product introductions at 24-month intervals and – starting with Creative Suite 5.5 – significant mid-cycle releases designed to keep the worldwide creative community ahead of the latest advances in content authoring."
Based on those timeframes, given that Captivate 5.5 was released about 6 months ago, you would be wise not to expect a Captivate 6 release until around the middle of next year.
Wouldn't it make sense that it can't come out until Creative Suite 6 comes out? Which I think should be sometime in the next few months. If Captivate is going to be bundled with the eLearning Suite, it's gonna need the newest version of Photoshop etc, so I would expect Captivate 6 to hit about the same time as CS 6
