I had this problem on Windows XP x86, the solution I found was to launch the workbench as the administrator of you computer.

From my understanding, the workbench uses component from windows for the process design view, so you need to be admin.

I am having this issue also on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. When I try to open Workbench it takes forever, slips into a non-responsive state, and then when it finally does open I can't actually see anything in the design palette. On my old XP machine ADEP Workbench opened just fine. And on the same Windows 7 machine ES2 Workbench opens just fine.

Any ideas?

I got this in Workbench 9.5 after installing Workbench 10.0. The two do NOT like to cohabitate on Windows 7 x64. You could try downgrading your version of Flash Player back to 10.x. I think that fixed one of ours here.

I get non-responsive processes quite frequently, but I just restart Workbench and it seems happy again.
