I would like to import an audio file to my PS5.5 Extended. It supports .mov files, so I tried to File->Place a mov file exported from Audition CS5.5. But Photoshop says: "Could not place the document xxx.mov because the movie file could not be opened."
The mov file doesn't open in Windows Media Player either and the message is that the codec is unknown. But it opens without problems in QuickTime, as audio.
I am not sure if this is Audition or Photoshop problem, but the format, or codec which is used should be common to both programs, as they are from the same CS5.5 suite. By the way, I have all settings set to default in Audition. No idea what codec it is using.
My purpose is to import sound, and because PS Ext does not support sound files as such, I found a workaround in the internet to import a mov file. But it does not work for me..

.
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below

Do you have Quicktime installed?
Thanks for the useful links, I will read them. In the meantime, here are the details from MediaInfo about the Audition-produced mov file:
Complete name : x.mov
Format : MPEG-4
Format profile : QuickTime
Codec ID : qt
File size : 50.4 MiB
Duration : 2mn 29s
Overall bit rate mode : Constant
Overall bit rate : 2 822 Kbps
Encoded date : UTC 2011-12-22 15:32:50
Tagged date : UTC 2011-12-22 15:32:50
Writing library : Apple QuickTime
And yes, I have QuickTime and QuickTime has no problem with playing the mov file.

You're assuming too much. PS is, after all, primarily an image editor. It does not do any such thing as share code with Audition. Anyway, since you have that particular program and it saves audio to a ton of formats, why not simply make use of that facility and convert the file to something PS can actualyl swallow like a MOV with uncomporessed audio?

From Audition 5.5 help file:
QuickTime format settings (audio-only *.mov)
You cannot adjust format settings for audio-only QuickTime files, which are always saved as uncompressed PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) data.
Indeed, there isn't much that can be set while exporting from Audition in mov format. It looks like it exports an uncompressed audio, but PS can't read it.
I am just looking for any solution to add audio to PS animation movie, having eLearning Suite. Perhaps PS would understand mp4 audio-only (if there is such thing) or mpeg audio only - but I have no clue how to produce such files from mp3, it is not possible with Audition anyways.
