I can`t use cotent-aware

I am left with the marching ants from my selection tool and nothing happens my  details of computer are intel 2quad cpu 2GB ram 32bit operating can somebody help?

    Not a lot of info there? Does it work normally if you skip making a selection and just brush across the item you wish to replace?

    One way to get there is to use the Spot Healing Brush and in the toolbar click on Content Aware
