Ive been working all day trying to have one of our publications ready for a demonstration for one of our clients. This is my first time publishing a magazine using the Viewer Builder. Ive had a very hard time with IDs.
I created a Multi Issue free app and uploaded the IPA to our testing iPad. To our surprise there was no Folio inside the custom built viewer. Im pretty sure its something related to the IDs. We did the following:
- On Dashboard, Folio ID: com.taller.unetetvmag.53 (being 53 the edition number)
- On App ID in developer.apple.com: com.taller.unetetvmag
- On iTunes Connect under Manage Your Apps: com.taller.unetetvmag
Regarding this one, we also tried com.taller.unetetvmag.53 but there is some kind of weird bug because iTunnes connect changes the ID to com.taller.unetetv and ads a new field called Bundle ID suffix: vmag
So right now, even though our custom built viewer is working there are no contentents inside it. We even tried on several other iPads with no sucess. Other things we tried: using no issue number just com.taller.unetetv on all 3 parts, also adding the issue number on all 3 parts, even sharing with the dashboard to the app acount on the DPS. The viewer works as a single folio but not as Multi Issue App (no subscription, we only have a Pro account)
Can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong? Any insights?
Those App IDs (com.taller.etc) don't matter unless you're creating retail folios. It doesn't sound like that's the case. My guess is that the Adobe ID you're using to sign in to the Folio Builder panel is different from the one you used in the Title ID field when you created the app in Viewer Builder. If those two Adobe IDs are the same, your free folios should show up in the library.
Ok, i did not think about that. But, i have an ID for creative purposes and an ID for the app and viewer builder. I should not use the creative ID to create viewer nor use the app ID to design and create. Since the ownership of the folio is given to the creative ID i cannot publish using the app ID... So what should be the right thing to do? do everything with the same ID? Transfer (if possible) the ownership of the folio to the app ID?
LOL... This is getting a little confusing...
Thanks Bob or anyone for more clues
Ownership of the unpublished folio is given to the ID that initially creates it regardless of the underlying roles or account type. Any account is allowed to create a folio, but that shouldn’t be done without some upfront planning.
The general guidance would be to have the appID create the initial folio and thus be the owner that can publish it, export it and create a custom viewer for it. For multi-issue applications this is critical since the fulfillment repository is associated with this ID and must be used for all folios associated with that title. The appID can share the folio with multiple creative who contribute articles. There is a more detailed explanation in the help materials.
