I'm havin' a helluva time determining which way to scan 35mm slides...please HELP!

I have dug up a treasure box of old 35mm slides from the 50's - 70's. Problem is I can't figure out how to tell which to scan the slide or look through for that matter without it being in mirror image. The slides that have alpha-numeric characters in the background are easy enough but the ones that don't are killing me. Hoping someone here can give me some pointers! Thanks in advance.

If they were processed by Kodak and are in Kodak cardboard mounts, the logo goes away from you as you look at the slide. If in plastic mounts, they are often embossed with "this side towards screen" text on one side, or have some other obvious difference between front and back. I'd take a look at the ones you know are facing the right way and then base the others on those if in similar mounts.

Ok great. Got the Kodak slides figured out. I also have the plastic that says this side toward screen. So in a scanner that "this side toward screen" would face up correct?

The "this side towards screen" would point the same direction as the logos on the Kodak slides. I'm not sure if that is up or down on your scanner.
