html5 animation problem on iPad

Hi,

I made a very simple animation in Adobe Edge of a headline with a PNG file. This one: http://project.aboutdesign.nl/test/lineani1.html

When I import this in InDesign it works fine in the Folio preview mode (CS5.5 - 7.5.2) except that it also starts to “fade in” from 0% transparancy to 100%. Only when I publish it on on the iPad it only fades in and the animation does not work any more. I also tried it with wallaby but with the same result.

The html seems to be fine. It works in the browser. Also in Safari on the iPad.

Thanx in advance!

very difficult to say, have you checked that it plays automatically?

I am having this exact problem, I've tried animations made in Edge and exported through Wallaby but the same 'fading in' issue happens. I'm going to try removing CS5.5 and starting again as suggested but am just wondering if you have any idea why it might be happening?  I can't understand how the order things have been installed on the computer can affect playback on the iPad. Is it just a weird glitch?

Well done for finding a solution anyway (I'll let you know if it works for me).

    Thanks in advance.

    i don't think a reinstall solves this problem ...

...problem is, that the viewer loads the HTML and until it fades in the content the animation might be finished. that is about timing. you need to start the animation later.

Pretty sure you're right about this. A couple of seconds delay before starting the animation seems to work (Only if I create animations using Edge: the InDesign> Wallaby method doesn't seem to work at all). Pretty useless anyway- that loading .gif really ruins the effect. No idea why it seems to work so well for Terry White:

I've had pretty good success building animations in Hype you might want to give that a try.... My 2 cents.

I have the same problem, going from Indesign > FLA > Wallaby > back to Indesign. I have tried setting different delays in the timing panel in Indesign but no result. Animation works when the CSS file is set to "infinite". It then playes repeatedly on the iPad. As soon as I change to "1" instead of "infinity", it only fades in with no animation.
