I purchased the Premiere Elements 10, and installed all the discs onto my 64 bit Windows 7 computer. It opens up the screen for "organize, new project, open project" and when selecting New Project it opens a load screen, and then closes and goes back to the main screen after it gets to "loading importerquicktime.prm"
I just downloaded teh newest quicktime, and still isn't working
I have AVG security software.
I know this want help you but I too am unable to use Premier elements 10 because it hangs while loading "importingquicktime.prm". It then goes back to the opening menu. Organizer works fine as does Photoshop, which was bought as a complete pack. I have the latest version of quicktime 7.7.1. I have checked my laptop and it has easily enough spec to cope with the programme.
I have been onto Adobe customer Support. Their technicians seems totally unaware of the probelm and seem to find it hard to grasp what is happening. They keep asking what error message comes up. There IS NO error message.
They got me to turn of all other programmes including the antivirus and to set up a new catologue in Organizer. Still the same problem.
I have spent so long on the phone to them that I will need a bank loan to pay for the phone bill. On three seperate occasions they have agreed to phone me back sometime during that day. Each times they failed to do so. It seems that they have a department called customer service and service is the last thing they want to offer.
They got me to delete my display driver. Premier elements then opened. However when I re installed the display driver, guess what. It want work again.
I am surprised that Adobe seem not to know there is a problem as there has been a number of posts on this forum on the same subject.
Assuming you're all using Windows 7 64-bit (since you say you're all experiencing the same thing) have you manually gone to Windows Update and ensured you have even the non-critical updates? (You can pick up import driver updates doing this.)
Have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime? (Especially true if you've got Window 7 64-bit!!)
Finally, have you run a program like Advanced System Care Free's Deep Care to make sure your system is properly tuned, cleaned and defragmented?

You'll be surprised how much of a difference these little tune-ups make!

So it appears the graphics driver is the problem. Make sure you get the latest driver from the manufacturers website (usually one of nvidia, AMD, or Intel). Wndows Update rarely has the most recent drivers.

I am using the latest graphics driver. I am using Lenovo ThinkPad X301. The graphics is the chipset's. With or without latest Quicktime, the problem occurs. I disabled all the services and startups and the problem occurs. I am using Microsoft Security Essentials. With or without it, the problem occurs.
Now, did you check on the Lenovo and Intel Web sites, for the latest driver for your chip and OS?
As Neale points out, Windows will usually be very wrong, and by 6 - 12 mos.. With nVidia and ATI/AMD, that could be 12 drivers out of date. Not so much with Intel, as they do not release video drivers with the same regularity.
Good luck,
Hunt
The Thinkpad X301 video driver I am using is 8.15.10.2555. I tried to install 32 bit version of Premier Elements but I could not install it. The UAC is disabled. I started Premier Elements 10 with administrative mode but the problem occurs. The Premier Elements 10 leave no messages on screen or event viewer...
It's not unheard of for a new driver to break PRE. It is how I first came to these forums in 2009 - eventually my problem was pinned down to a specific nvidia driver release.
I suggest you uninstall the latest driver and try some of the older ones.

Normally, the latest driver IS the answer, though not always.
Going back a few years, nVidia had two drivers in a row, that caused issues with many Adobe programs. By the time that users figured out the problem and the fix, a new, and truely improved driver was released.
ATI/AMD has not been totally immune either, and usually, when there is a bad driver, a new one is released very quickly.
Sorry that the Lenovo driver was not the fix.
Good luck,
Hunt
Can you give us the specs. of your computer, and the exact symptoms that you are encountering. This ARTICLE will give you tips on the info, that would be very useful.

The program works fine on Windows 7 64-bit. I've been running it on mine fine for works.
Have you manually gone to Windows Update and downloaded even the non-critical updates (the ones that don't download automatically)?
Have you run Disk Cleanup and Defragment?
Have you reset your licensing, per the FAQs to the right of this forum?
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/542377?tstart=0
Have you ensured you have the latest 64-bit version of Quicktime?

EVERYTHING is running as expected on my computers, but Adobe Premiere Elements 11
What is wrong with this product? And why does it stop loading at "LoadingQuickTime.prm"? On every of my computers?
Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 is running 100% - so far - on every computer....
I did my purchase of Elements + Premiere 11 on date of release and downloaded software. My first problem, and reason to contact Adobe Support was because their automated system didn't create a specific serial number for Premiere part of the package. Later I got my serial number, so at first I had to start with my "Trial Version". I did my purchase on 26. september 2012 and 30 days of Trial was about to start......
Today I am still trying to find out what is the problem, and I am looking....and staring.....at my computer screens......
And I still have that 30-day Trial Version active?!!!
Here is a picture of my startup screen...in the moment of crash & burn

PrE uses QT Player, where PSE does not. The hanging at the QT PRM concerns a module in QT Player, and indicates that it is not loading properly.
Also, the OP had a Lenovo, and was having trouble getting the latest video driver to install. I did not see your make/model of graphics card/chip, or the driver version and date, but might have missed that. Have you checked with the mfgr's. Web site, and then downloaded and installed the very latest driver?
Good luck,
Hunt

Is that 12, 2010 really the latest AMD/ATI driver for the Radeon?
AMD/ATI & nVidia, normally issue updates about one per month, but then with some really old cards, might essentially drop support.
Even though my nVidia Quadro FX-4500 is now 5 years old, the drivers come out about every other month, and the latest is 11/19/2012.
Now, HP often re-packages the video drivers, whether from AMD or nVidia, so one is often limited to ONLY the HP version of a driver, but they are usually pretty good getting those re-packaged drivers out quickly.
Good luck,
Hunt
This is what i found about my HP ProBook 6555b:
| ATI Video Driver and Control Panel | 8.722.1-100408A-098374C ![]() 25 May 2010 | 121.3 | 56K: 4h 512K: 32m |
Wow, those drivers are not being updated at all. Looks like they are both stuck in 2010, so about 20 mos. have gone by, without an update.
I do not know what to suggest in that case.
Both AMD and nVidia normally issues updates almost every month, until a card is dropped from their active list. Then, one is stuck with the older drivers, and if they cause issues, the only recourse is to replace with a newer card.
Good luck, and wish that I had more to offer.

Try installing Standard VGA drivers and try to launch the application :
if you are able to launch application that means problem is with display card driver
I have exectly the same problem. PE 11 won't launch.3 The startup screen stays on the 'loading importerquicktime.prm' stage.
I've tried a lot of things (installing the last graphic drivers, launching PE directly via 'run as Administrator' - the only way to have the startup screen, etc...)
I'm a bit disapointed.
I'm under Win8 64bits with 16Gb RAM. My Graphix Card is a GeForce GTX 560
