Okay, I have already created one app that has been approved by Apple. Now we're ready to create a second app and we're trying to create the .p12 certificates using the existing Apple Dev and Dist Certificates. For some reason we can not get the .p12 certificates for the new app to link up with the existing Apple Dev and Dist certificates. I don't understand what I'm missing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hey Bob,
Thanks for the reply. But I'm a bit confused. So I just use all of the same Dev & Distribution certificates and .p12 certificates for every individual magazine I make? From what I gather, I use the same Apple Dev and Dist certificate, but I need to make new .p12 and new mobile provisioning files for new apps that will get assigned to the new App ID correct? I feel completely lost.
You must have 2 folders with the following :
Dev:
aps developer identify.CER
CertificateSigningRequest.certSigningReq
Certificats.P12 (already created for your previous app)
Certificats Push Dev.P12
Mobile Provision
Distri
aps prodution identify.CER
CertificateSigningRequest.certSigningReq
Certificats distri.P12 (already created for your previous app)
Certificats Push Prod/distri.P12
Mobile Provision
Try, you will know quickly if you havent do it well ![]()
To repeat, you can use the same .p12 certificates (development and distribution) for multiple apps. For each app, you need to create a new App ID in the Apple developer site, and you need to create new mobileprovision files (development and distribution) for each App ID.
Minia mentioned the .cer files and the certificate signing request files, but those are necessary only to create the .p12 certs. You don't actually specify those files in the Viewer Builder.
For some reason the whole certificate process confuses me too...I'm in a smiliar situation as jblay. We've completed our first app and everything seems to be working fine. It was a single-viewer folio.
Now, we are moving on to a multi-folio viewer.
Can someone verify if I am correct...
I can use the same certificates that we used with the single-viewer app, plus "new" push P12 Production/Developer certificates, if we want that function.
Thanks!
When you create the new app, you'll want to use a different Adobe ID for the Title ID field in Viewer Builder and when you create folios. Use the Account Admin tool to assign an Adobe ID an application role.
For the Apple certificates, you need to create a new App ID, new push certificates, and new mobileprovision files, but you can use the same .p12 development and distribution certificates for all your apps.
