CP5 button going inactive

I have a project that contains a course completion button that opens a new window with a course critique form to be completed by the student.  We just discovered if the student gets distracted and doesn't click the button before the slide's timeline is complete that the button doesn't work.  My lead doesn't want to just add time to the timeline he says this makes the courses look longer. I know but he is a retired jet pilot.......   It there another way to make sure it stays active until the student clicks if.  I was thinking about putting a click box over the button and having it pause until the student selects it.

    Put TWO buttons on the final slide.

    One should be labelled as Complete Course Now and set to Continue so that the slide will continue playing to the end and terminate the course.

    The other should be labelled as Submit Feedback and set to open the course feedback form in a new window.

     

    Only the first button should be set to pause the movie.

     

    This way, you give your learner the choice of offering feedback BEFORE they complete the course or not.  If they just click the Complete Course Now button, they finish up without offering feedback.  You won't have to worry about them not getting enough time to consider their options.

    Susan,

     

     

    Is this a button  without pausing point? If it has a pause, perhaps it is in the fading out of this last slide?

    It is a button but we've had the entire timeline of the button be active.

    The way our homemade LMS is set up they get credit for completing a course once they've accessed and completed the critique form.  So it is all one action.

    OK.  I'm confused by this.

    Is the course seen to be completed when the learner completed the last module or when the complete the feedback form?  Only one of these can be the required final action.  So which one is it?  Is it mandatory to complete the feedback as part of the course or is it optional?

    If the student wants credit then they must complete the feedback form.

    Then I suggest you forget about having the button on the final slide and just daisy chain from the final module to the feedback form via the Project End action to Open URL.

     

    That way, as the course module completes playing it will open the page with the feedback form and the user can be informed that they must complete this form to get credit.

    If the button must remain, you could try changing the 'on exit' action for the final slide to 'Open URL or file" and point to the same URL as the button.  So if they click the button, they go there.  If they fall asleep and miss it, it still goes there.  I don't like that from a maintenance standpoint (two places to fix/change the same information), but it should work.
