MAXIMUM layers in Photoshop?

Hello, how many layers supports photoshop?

    I nearly messed up here, reading this is the maximum number of images you could open at once, which is 200.  To answer your actual question, you can have 8000 layers in a photoshop file.  Good luck keeping track of them all though.

    One thing to consider in the number of layers, is that each layer adds to the size of the image.  If you affect the entire image with a layer you will double the size of the image.  So if you do a gaussian blur of a 20 meg picture you now have a 40 meg pictures.

     

    You can see where I am going with this, as some point before you reach 8000 layers you will run out of resources to handle them.

    If it's 8000 I think problem doesn't exist I don't thik I even used 1000 in website project..

    We've actually had a few people hit the limit (usually by accident).

     

    And we've received some real customer files that use up to 6000 layers.

     

    Take a look around people's offices -- how many piles of paper do they have?  Now imagine how they organize layers...

    All that layering to avoid the evil of (gasp) changing pixel values.  LOL

    Apparently God gave us sandflies to prevent it being paradise.   Tiny black specs of viciousness that can really spoil your day.  Thankfully they don't bother me too much, but they sure upset the tourists.

    Grape vines are OK until we get frosted at budding time.  Then we have dozens of helicopters waking us up at 4AM.
