Someone be my Hero! (Slideshow in Overlay Creator)

Feb 9, 2012 2:54 PM

I'm trying to create a slideshow with the Overlay Creator panel.  I've done this plenty of times before but for some reason now the buttons and check boxes in the Slideshow panel do not work.  Any body run into this before or have a handling?

The slideshow options in the Overlay Creator panel don't show up if a frame within the slideshow is selected. If you click outside the slideshow and then click it again, the dashed lines should appear. The panel options should then be available. Is that the issue?

also, the overlay creator only reacts to the selected MSO if it sits on the layout, not outside on the pasteboard.

do you notice a brief checking and instant un-checking? I saw that one day

on another machine. Solution was to open and close InDesign, but I am sure

    you tried that, too.

I've found that closing the panel window itself, then re-opening it works. I've had the same issue with the Overlay Creator, as well as the Folio Builder. Hope that helps you too!

For me they don't work sometimes also.

I was curios to find out what's going on, and the reason was simple. The options are active only when  all states are chosen in MSO panel. With any single state chosen – the slidesdhow options are grayed out. I suspect that this behavior was introduced lately, as I noticed it as something unusual.

Either this is as designed, or a bug. No idea;-)

On the top bar of the Objects States panel you see the bare with the name of the MSO. To the right there is an icon of two intersecting squares. Clicking it choses whole MSO and enables input into Overlay Creator. At least for me;-)

I had this problem too until I tried deTabbing the Overlay Creator panel from the Folio Builder panel. They were together in the same panel as tabs. Putting it on its own fixed the inability to check the check boxes.

That did it! A couple of times I could restart InDesign and it would fix it, but just pulling the Overlay Creator panel out by itself worked. Thanks!

@avgbear – On which version of DPS are you seeing that problem?
    v18 or v19 ?

Or on a mixed-up one (FolioBuilder v19, Overlay Creator v18)?
