I have a client that produces a number of magazines (print) on a monthly and quarterly basis. The magazines are not sold but are sent out to their members as part of their membership subscription. At the moment all of the magazine are printed and sent out via post, however they are wanting to be able to also send out an eMag version of one of their magazines as a value-add for their members. At this point they do not intend to sell the magazine but just want to be able to distribute it to their members but not make it free for anyone to download (if you know what I mean). I am trying to find out the best way to be able to distribute the magazine to their members and wondering if this is something my client can manage even though I am the author of the artwork. Is there a way I can produce the .folio file and supply it to my client for them to distribute it?
HI Bob, thanks for getting back to me. Like all clients they would like to spend as little as possible. I presume from your answer, therefore, that having an Enterprise account with Adobe and Apple is more expensive than going through iTunes?
If we do go through iTunes do you know if you can set it up so that members could download it for free if they had a special code while non members would have to pay for it?
Clive.
Hi Bob,
What kind of promo codes are you talking about? I called Apple support about this and they said it's impossible to supply gift codes (are these the same promo codes you are talking about) for in-app purchases.
Are you saying there is a way to provide (max.) 100 promo codes for purchasing in-app issues?
I thought Apple promo codes are available only for apps, not for in-app purchases. To entitle some customers to your content free and make everyone else pay for it, you would need to set up a custom entitlement server. That option is available only with an Enterprise DPS subscription.
