How important the graphic card for after effects?

Feb 19, 2012 11:13 AM

Hello,

I want to buy a new system with these spec:

I7 2600

16GB RAM

Intel HD Graphic 2000

500GB Sata 3

80GB Sata 2

320GB Sata 2

I realized that I do not need an expensive graphic card for After Effects, and the important components are processor, Hard disks and RAM memory.
what is your opinion about that? is that enough?
I also wonder whether to buy a graphics card or not, if so then what?
Thanks a lot!
Ron.

You are right that the graphics card doesn't matter much for After Effects. The stock GPU in any modern computer is enough. The specs that you mention for other components seem fine for running After Effects. Premiere Pro is a different matter; it uses the GPU a lot more.
