Preview monitor suddenly stopped working and disappeared

In the middle of my edit, clips refused to play and my separate external preview monitor blinked back to the desktop.

 

Now, even after a restart, importing into a new project, reconnecting and disconnecting equipment, I can't get the second monitor option to reappear in my Playback settings window. Where did it go?

    How is this Separate External Preview Monitor connected?

    - Computer Monitor via Video Card?

    - NTSC Monitor via MATROX, BlackMagic, AJA?

    - Mental Telepathy?

     

     

    Window > Source Monitor

    (Shift +F2)

     

    Sequence > Sequence Settings > Playback Settings:

    - check/uncheck Desktop Video Display During Playback

    - set External Device

    Hmm, the monitor has mysteriously reappeared. Perhaps I willed it back into working order with my mind powers.

     

    It's connected through a separate graphics card, NVidia GT 120, with a monoprice mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.

    Sounds like a Driver, Video Card, Connection, or Computer issue wherein the Computer lost communication with the Output.

    Doesn't sound like a deal breaker if it's only happened once but I can see it quickly becoming frustrating if it becomes a reocurring thing.

     

    Maybe double check your Video Card Drivers, Cables/Connections, and Premiere Pro settings to make sure everything is copasetic.

    I thought it was a connection issue, but it persisted even after I reconnected everything, and restarted. Not only that but the monitor was still fully functional in OSX, displaying a desktop, and only failed to be recognized as a monitor by Ppro.
