Reverse geocoding

Now that it's enabled, does anyone have any knowledge of how it is supposed to work?  The downloadable LR manual doesn't even mention it and so far I've not found any tutorials that mention it, either. It isn't a big issue for me but I am curious as to just how it works.

    Looks as if it should happen automatically - but not for me! I must be missing something. Thought maybe the photos needed to be newly imported into non-beta LR4. I just imported a few new files and got not sublocatios and Terry did in his video.  If you have sucess let me know.  Bob

    Thanks, that was helpful.  The problem I was having in actually seeing where the data should go is simple...I used Metadata Wrangler to create a preset to show all possible metadata.  Guess I'll have to modify it to also show the "Location" metadata.

     

    However, as others have reported it doesn't appear to work when dragging an untagged image to the map.  I haven't checked to see if it works when tagging using a .gpx file.

    I think it may have been a Google Maps problem for it suddenly started working.  If I drag an untagged photo to the map it fills in the city, state, country, and ISO country code properly.

    Here it is still not working. If it would be a Google Maps problem, Jeffrey's GPS Plug-In wouldn't reverse geoencode neither, but it does!

    It does seem to be intermittent.  I just tried a photo that worked before and it does not work right now 1:58PM PST.

     

    This is a short thread.  Why don't we move this to the longer thread entitled Reverse geotagging?  No need to post in both.

    I wouldn't jump to that conclusion, as they might use different APIs or different pathways.
