I can no longer open Photoshop élements 8

It was working ok on my pc . And it does not work any longer .  Pc works under window 7 64b.  Desinstall/reinstall does not remove the issue.

 

Besides when i want to open a picture ( Jpeg) using photoshop element i have a error message  " opengl32/dll missing" ( however this file is there , in windows/syst 32 directory)

 

Somebody advise to desinstall/ remove all the adobe files, then clean the registery ( how??) ,  then resinstall :  is it a possible solution?

    What exactly do you mean by "it does not work" -- give us the steps you're doing, and a precise description of the problem, as well as any error messages.

    Hello, thanks for youe interest ,

     

    I open photoshop by clicking the icon . this open the welcome screen with the 2 options, organizer and modifier. When i click on either of the 2 options, i see a message

    " launch in process " for a few seconds, then the message disappear and nothing happens.

     

    Or, when i want to open a jpeg photo file with photoshop ( open with) i see a message like "impossible to start the program ...openGL32.dll is missing .."

     

    This issue is new on my computer , some weeks ago i had no issue with photoshop.

     

    I must admit my computer has not been working very well in the last weeks , slower, sometimes blocked and need restart.

    Click on Modifer whilst holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift

    Then close welcome screen and click OK to delete settings.

    Hum... nothing happen when i do this - I close the wecome screen and nothing again

    Yeah, that doesn't sound too good at all.  That "openGL32.dll" is a system file.  You'll need to get your operating system working correctly:

    1. Perform a full system scan with a good anti-virus program.
    2. Repair the system files using the System File Checker tool:

    I went on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 , i perform the sfc /scannow : it results in a message damaged files has been found but not all could be repared .

    But i am not able to open the sfc details text file to see which files are not repared...

     

    I tried to replace the opengl32.dll file thru order icacls... and copy a new opengl32.dll file over the existing one , and restart the PC : but it did not solve the photoshop

    issue
