I'm well aware that there are variations between images, but this new project is just baffling me.
On medium setting I have image that are 400mb, and others that are only 50mb.
This last one that is 50 mb is color, with a lot of dark, blacks, I would have thought it would have been on higher end but is 50, very low weight.
Others are very large and I have no idea why.
What's the logic behind this? thanks.
Hi,
The problem you are facing, I guess it is due to image resolution. the images which are 400mb are of very high resolution and the images that are 50mb are of low resolution. For reducing the size of 400mb images change it to low resolution.
Here are the steps to reduce the resolution of images:
- Go to image menu in the top navigation menu and select image size or press ctrl+Alt+I.
- This will open a new dialog box with the image size settings.
- Change the resolution settings to reduce it.
An then try to export it, size will be decreased.
Hope this helps,

Thanks M,
ok one image #1 very black comes to a medium in save for web much smaller than #2 image.
That said, after I do a flatten crop on both (with same crop preset) the blacker one #1 says it's 4mb, and other #2 says 8mb. (reading the info panel) Bit puzzled on that. I suppose thats just based on previous resolutions/ pixeles that the images have before I do the flatten and crop? I just thought after the crop they would/ should all be same size.
thanks John, I don't like uploading my images live for all to see -- I try to keep a low profile, especially on this forum which especially has a lot of cantankerous / angry folks on it.
That said the same angry folks are often delightful offline.
Also, I think you really want to grab the file offline to study it. I don't mind PM the files to you or anyone who wants to help.
