What kind of antivirus software are you using?  Try to disable it during the download and install.

Also make sure you have the latest antivirus definitions installed; this should fix any false positives.

In my previous tread I did mention that anti virus "Kaspersky" that is on

my system has been disabled. Must be some other program that prevents it

being installed. I can d/load it ok but instalation is a problem. If it was

Kaspersky preventing it than it would be indicated so according to

Kaspersky support team.

Thank you

You might have disabled your anti-virus but yet there could be some services which may be running in the background and causing the issue.

You and turn off your startup items and then try installing it.

Manish's suggestion is great for additional details on how to run in a selective start up I would recommend reviewing Disable startup items, services | Windows.

Are you on a corporate network which might have a cached copy of the file on the proxy server?  Alernately is it possible you might have additional virus protection software installed such as Microsoft Security Essentials?

Have you tried a different web browser?  Perhaps you have a toolbar or add-on which is generating this behavior.  You might even try using a web browser which you have not utilized previously to help ensure there is no additional components installed.

I tried f/fox and d/loaded it but does not give you an option to install

it. + I found this " Adobe has identified some issues with the current

Reader download center. The engineering team is working to address

them. Here are temporary workarounds for these known issues". How true is

this?

Thanks

I am sorry Ivosevci but I am unsure where you could run into that issue either.  Are you using the link provided by Pat Willener at  http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/?

I tried this link under Windows 7 and there seemed to be no opportunity to receive an error message about the download center.  You simply select your operating system, language, and version.  Which of these options did you choose?

Prior to disabling your anti-virus did you try running a full scan on your system?  There are viruses/malware out there which can cause your web browsers to be redirected to other sites but have been designed to look the same to the user.

@ Ivosevci

You have tried safe boot , selective startup and also disbaled the anti-virus and still getting the error message.

The error "adobe reader contained virus and was deleted" can come when we have the any software which is detecting this installer file as the Virus and as you said the "Kapersky" is the only Anti-virus you have installed on the system.

Hence , the only option is that I can suggest is to either contact "Kapersky" support or uninstall the Anti-virus completely and then try installing the Adobe reader, If it get installed then you can re-install your anti-virus.

And also please follow the step suggested by Jeff.

I'm using the link Pat provided entering correct data.

I run a/virus scan no problem.

I guess the only thing that is left to uninstall Kaspersky and then try.

Thank you.

Even in the past when I had Adobe Reader installed it would not open pdf

files giving the same message, and from memory this was around the same

time when I installed Kaspersky I think. Prior to that I had AVG which I

uninstalled but there is still something left of it in foreign language and

I think it is Korean fonts that I can not get off.

Lets see if you are able to get Adobe Reader installed successfully once you have Kaspersky removed.  It may also be worthwhile to contact them as well to see if they are aware of any issues which might be causing your difficulties.

Hi ivosevci,

Click on Start-> type "run" in the search filed without the quotes.

Click on the "Run"program that shows in the search results.

In the Run dialog box, type "drivers" without the quotes.

In the window that opens, click and open the folder named "ëtc".

Look for a file named hosts. Double click on it and open it with notepad.

Please check what is listed below "127.0.0.1 localhost" in this file and post a screenshot or the contents here.

Thanks
