mine type xls won't work in FF

I have the upload form what allows to upload the certain mine types.  The upload allowed application/ms-excel,application/vnd.ms-excel but when i upload the .xls file and it didn't accept it in FF.  IE is accepted it but not in FF.  Can any one have any sugesstions?
