Can't open US Gov Pacer pdf files

The limited Adobe Reader in the Playbook won't open actual case files in the US Court Pacer system.  Searching Pacer FAQs gave some ideas to change some settings, but I cannot find any way to adjust anything in the toy Reader that came with the Playbook.  What a disappointing effort by a respected software producer.  Any one know of a work-around to make this work?  Hopefully someone will port a good substitue in the near future.
