Hi there,
I am working on an HD documentary and looking to capture HD footage (25p) and export it to full HD in CS4. Is it possible to maintain full resolution in this version of the program? If so, what preset should I use for the project?
Thanks!
Yes you can capture hdv and export in HD
If you want to watch effects in the timeline you probably need to render or lower the playback resolution, depending or you machine.
You preset or custom preset should alway match your footage.
Is it HDV btw?
If its not, you do not capture but import or ingest the footage.
1st step... knowing just what KIND of HD video
Read Bill Hunt on a file type as WRAPPER http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037

What CODEC is INSIDE that file? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037
.
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing

If we all stick to Todd's link it would be a lot easier for folks.
So long as the link works, Todd's is very good.

Hi there,
Apologies for not supplying adequate information in the initial post and I meant to say Import the footage rather than Capture.
The footage will be shot on a Canon XF 305 in HD, not HDV.
I understand that the preset should match the footage; it is the lack of an HD preset in CS4 and only the option of HDV that concerned me.
Footage info:
Video compression: MPEG-2 Long GOP;
Audio compression: Linear PCM, 16 bits, 48 kHz, 2 channels
File type: MXF
50 Mbps (CBR, 4:2:2, 422P@HL)
1920x1080: 25P
System Info:
Dell Vostro running Windows XP
Intel Quad CPU Q660 at 2.4GHz
3.24 GB of RAM
