DreamWeaver CS4 - hyperlinks

Hello,

Can anyone help me please? I am new to dreamweaver and web design, and have built a site. I want to link some text to a poster - so when people click on the writing it will open the poster. When I try to apply the link I have two separate issues;

1) I get a "#" where I have highlighted the text to link

2) I get the "Oops! This link appears to be broken" error message when I view the page in IE

Any light anyone can shed on this would be great - its driving me crazy!

Link to the page? Code snippet? We need to see what is not working for you in order to help you fully.

But, a link needs to be coded like:
<a href="http://www.yourlinkhere.com" class="">Your text here</a>

I am new to dreamweaver and web design, and have built a site.

Making a hyperlink is web design 101.
Start by learning code basics. Not hard to pick up in a weekend.
HTML & CSS Tutorials - http://w3schools.com/
Knowing fundamentals will make DW much easier for you to use.
