Mar 12, 2012 10:40 PM

Will there be an update to LR 4 when the new Canon 5D MKIII is released for sale?

Historically, both Lr and Camera Raw have been updated to include new camera support 3 or 4 times per year.  I doubt that Adobe will be chanigng that approach.

@Birdieguy: I don't know when the update will arrive, but it will. Support for Canon 5D Mark III is in the labs test version of the Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7 plug-in, which uses the same raw-processing software as Lightroom:

Any ETA on an update for LR 4 to support the 5D MIII? Or is there a workaround to get the 5D raws into LR4?

Download the RC of DNG Converter 6.7 and convert to DNG.

i have no problems with LR 4 so far.... but seeing all the complains about LR 4 in this forum i guess we will see a version 4.1 sooner then later.
    i guess the v4.1 will have 5D MK3 support.

but i doubt anyone can or will give you an ETA for the update.

Got the new 5D Mark 3 today, only to find of course it wont import the RAW files.  Adobe please release the update asap as I cant do another wedding without it! With Lightroom 4 being so new I would have expected the support to be included.  Unfortunately my life evolves around Lightroom for Weddings...

I have the 5DMkIII as of today and will be using it for a dance show this weekend.  The thought of having to convert 1,000 CR2 files to DNG is going to be frustrating!!!!!!!!!   Am I missing something?  The ACR 6.7 Beta installed in CS5, but for LR4 I have to convert to DNG before importing.   ?????

I'm not sure what you expect, but it necessarily takes time for a converter - any converter - to catch up with new cameras.

Lr/Adobe is better than most in that regard, but the lead-in time is unavoidable, and in the meantime you use the workarounds like conversion to DNG.

Great, thanks for this.  Didn’t even know what DNG was!  Works great! Eddie

I am new to using LR3, just used my new Mark III tonight and was sad to find LR couldn't see the raw files. The upgrade to 3.6 bought me nothing. LR4 shipped to me yesterday, but based on this post I am reading I am SOL huh?  I did download the DNG converter but haven't changed raw formats before so hopefully this temporary fix is easy. Thinking I'll go back to ACR and put LR on the backburner again. Has Adobe given any indication when it will add support for Mark III??

The DNG converter works fine.  Just any extra step and more HD space for now.  My guess is a couple of weeks....
