Problems with new crop functions and old crop actions

I discovered that my actions imported from CS4, which contain preset dimensions for the crop window, do not function as written UNLESS the crop tool is activated before running the action. These actions are designed to open the crop window at a specific dimension, then stop, allowing me to move the crop window to the desired postion, then continue with the cropping and, finally, interpolation back to original image dimensions. However, in CS6, if you run these actions with any tool enabled OTHER THAN THE CROP TOOL, the crop window appears at the perimeter of the image. With the crop tool enabled, the actions function as written. Hopefully you can fix this before the final release.

 

I'm running Win 7 Pro on 64 bit machine, and the above problem occurred running the 32 bit CS6.

    you can set the crop tool to behave like the old one (classic mode).

    that doesn´t  help?

    Hi, it is possible to record tool selection, and also through tool presets selection.

    No, setting the crop tool to classic mode doesn't help.

    Can I get one of the actions in question so we can see what it is being asked to do?

    Patti,

     

    Here's a screen capture of the crop action. The action is designed to stop at the first step, allowing me to drag the crop box to wherever I want. The box normally appears roughly centered. However, in CS6, this only works if the crop tool is pre-selected before running the action. If any other tool is active, the crop box expands to the perimeter of the image.

    Thanks. FYI, I tried re-writing the action in CS6, instead of using one written in a previous version, and the results are the same (box expands unless crop tool pre-selected before running the action).

    Mike, did using a tool preset in the action to select the crop tool works, as suggested higher?

    Pierre, I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with using tool presets, and unsure how it would help in this instance, at least with my pre-recorded actions. Can you give me an example of how one would build a preset into the above cropping action that I posted for the staff? Thanks!
