Drawings disappearing on mouse release

Hey guys im new to flash to probaly hit a keyboard shortcut that broke this... but when i draw anything using any tool on a layer it disappears as soon as i release the mouse button, then when i click the timeline it reappears again but when you are drawing having your image not on the screen makes it kind of impossible do draw anything

I tried reinstalling the software ( im using the demo) whats going on? I was hoping to get to play around abit before my trial ended

    In the timeline window, there are three option buttons next to each layer's name: visible, locked, outline. You have probably clicked on the outline option and set your layer to show only the outline view of that layer. Hit that option button to show the layer's contents.

    I tried that and it showed the outlines of the lines ive drawn in green but not the actual lines.

     

    so my options seem to be outlines in green or nothing

     

    ideas?

     

    whats even odder when i look at my moniter at an angle i can see what a drew but very very faded. its not visible unless i look very closely :S
