Photoshop CS6 beta hangs my macbook pro during install

Mar 26, 2012 4:35 AM

It always starts the install but hangs at about 40 to 50% into the install. The whole macbook pro freezes including force quit and a hard boot is necessary. Any ideas as to how to resolve this issue

That sounds like you might have disk problems.  Have you run DiskUtility and repaired the disk?

Same here. When installing PS CS6 beta on my 2011 macbook air 13" it also freezes midway of installing. Only thing I can do is press on/off button for a few seconds until it shuts down.

    Any solutions/ideas?

It's a Macbook Air 13" 1,7 Ghz i5, 4 gigs of RAM, 128 Gb SSD with Lion installed

Have either of you tried installing in a different administrator user yet?

If that doesn't work, You might consider redownloading the installation files

If you still have trouble, let us know!

Yes I tried. Didn't work either.

Also redownloading installation files doesn't solve the problem... :-(

In addition. It always hangs at around 45%: at that time the installer says it's installing: "Adobe fonts recommended"

Addition 2: It has installed PS CS6 partially: I can see the application it in the applictions folder. However I cannot start it. Even worse: I cannot uninstall it using the uninstall program in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe installers folder...

    Uninstaller gives following message:

Please see specific errors and warnings below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR: DW039 ...

What's funny tho: After every time the installer hangs: My Spotlight seems to do a full index. It takes a pretty long time

    Hi Danny,

Not sure if you're seeing the same thing as the OP here, but thanks for posting as well

We're looking into some of the installation cases, and have some suggestions for fixes found here:

    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4286533#4286533

You could try installing to the desktop, or copying the contents of the mounted DMG file to a new folder on the desktop, and install from there.

Give those two suggestions a try, and see if they work for you!

    Thanks

    Pete

    Try the following in order:

1.) Unmount all the other DMGs (if any) and then try with only Adobe PS CS6 DMG mounted.

2.) Reboot the system and then try.

3.) Copy the PS CS6 installer files to a folder on desktop from DMG and then try to launch the installer from the locally copied installer.

Let us know if any of these works.

    Hi Pete,

Ofcourse I cannot confirm that my problem is the same as OP however this post/problem comes closest to the problem I have when trying to install. THe other post you mentioned is something I do not recognize.

I've tried all the above. My MBA just hangs after some time when trying to install CS6. After a while a spinning beachball occurs and after that I have to hard reboot the MBA.

ANy other ideas? Please let me know if you need any more info from me. Logs etc.

And then suddenly it installs. The thing I did differently in comparison with other attempts: I switched the install language from English (North america) to English (international).

Does that make any sense to you guys? I also noticed that English (N-america) installs for 1.8 Gb and international English "only" 1.5 Gb?
