First, make sure that you've downloaded or are using the Mac installation disk or file! (The box includes several discs, so make sure you're using the right set.)

A couple of other tricks that seem to solve many Mac installation issues:
1) Go to the Adobe site and install the latest versions of Acrobat Reader and Adobe Air.
2) Delete corrupted fonts.
With the Finder open, select Go/To Applications and open the Font Book.
In the Font Book, select all fonts and, from the File menu, select Validate Font. Delete any that appear to be corrupted or troublesome.
You'll be amazed how many issues this resolves!
