Resolution issues in Premiere Pro

Hi, I am attempting to import a video into Premiere Pro for editing but am having some weird issues.

I have a video which is 1920x800 and have created a Premiere project with the resolution set to 1920x800 and yet I have black bars on the left and right of the video as shown below.

If the project and video are the exact same resolution, how is this happening?

I've never heard of 1920x800 video... it's probably 1920x1080.

It is 1920x800, it's just the resolution of something that I am doing.

Your advice seems to have solved the problem though so thanks for that.

Could it be that when you made the new composition, you set the pixel size wrong? I once had some 720x480 film from a friend, but instead of being the usual .91 pixel ratio like the default, it was 1.21 which meant I was cutting off some footage. Try looking at your comp settings if you get the problem again.
