Issues with Applicaiton Freezing when trying to capture screens with Captivate 5

We are trying to capture screens using Captivate 5.  The application we are trying to capture freezes when we are doing so (Venue Master - Ticket Master).

We have downloaded another piece of Screen Capturing software and do not get this issue.

We have a deadline to produce some learning on Friday!  Any ideas?

I'm guessing that your other screen capture program creates a video of the content, not a slide by slide capture as Captivate does?  Basically, these other apps are the equivalent of putting a movie camera in front of your screen and just recording whatever happens.  Captivate is different in that it takes a series of snapshots and strings them together with an animated mouse to give the appearance of a movie.  But it's really a series of 'still photos'.

Captivate takes each capture when it detects an on screen event. Your target application (Venue Master) must be one that Captivate doesn't easily understand. Since your app is freezing, there must be some issue where it doesn't like Captivate 'listening in' on what it's doing.  You can try turning off the automatic capture and just use manual captures.  If that still causes your app to freeze, using FMR or video recording may be your only option.

Thanks Rob, it is irritating though, as we were able to capture 90% of what we needed using Captivate. We bought captivate specifically to use for creating e-learning content on this specific application so it is disappointing to get this far down the line to find we can’t complete the job.

I will suggest turning off the automatic capture, and see if we can complete it that way.

Thanks for the answer though!
