Outlook 2007 experience serious problem with Adobe pdfmaker office com addin

Mar 22, 2012 3:30 PM

Hello,

I have installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 that is updated to the latest patch as of yesterday.  This install creates an addin for Office 2007 Outlook Adobe pdfmaker.  Microsoft Office Outlook will create a window that states" Outlook experienced a serious problem with 'acrobat pdfmaker office come addin' add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, you should disable this add-in and check to see if update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in" YES or NO.

The issue here is that this window appears but the user is still able to work with the plugin just fine. Its just this annoying window popping up. There does not seem to be any issues with this Add-in as he is able to work with it in Outlook just fine.  Outlook just creates this "error" as if an issue has arisen but in reality nothing happened.

There is no update for Adobe 9 pro. We updated it to the very latest.  Is there any way i can stop Outlook from complaining as its really working just fine, at least from the users perspective.

Thank you for your help.

Have you verified that the Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Add-In is selected in the Office 2007 application's list of available add-ins? To do this:

    1. Open Outlook and choose Tools > Trust Center.
    2. Choose Add-Ins in the list on the left side of the Trust Center window.
    3. Choose COM Add-ins in the Manage pop-up menu at the bottom of the Options window or the Trust Center window.
    4. Click Go and look for Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Add-In in the list.

If Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Add-In appears in the list but the checkbox beside it is not selected, then click the checkbox. Click OK. Then close and reopen the Office 2007 application.

If Adobe PDFMaker COM Add-In is not in the list of available add-ins, then click Add and navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat [9.0]\PDFMaker\Office. Select PDFMOfficeAddin.dll. Click OK. Then close and reopen the Office 2007 application.

Note: If you installed Acrobat to a location other than the default of C:\Program Files\Adobe, then modify the folder path above for your installation location.

You also mentioned, AA9.0. This is a very old release of that version with many updates. It might be worth updating the product to to the current 9.5 for Windows. Be sure to do the updates in order, most are not cummulative.
