    Short answer: Try http://www.openssl.org/related/binaries.html

This is the best post I have found about how to create your p12 on a windows pc with OpenSSL. http://www.emanueleferonato.com/2011/09/22/creation-of-an-iphone-app-w ith-flash-and-without-a-mac-for-all-windows-lovers/

I've used the process numerous times with success.

For other info about AIR for iOS development using Windows you can check out my post here: http://teampokpok.com/2012/air-for-ios-dev-usin-windows-pc/

You make up your own password. It need not be that complicated a password too, it's only used either in the settings in Flash Pro, or in the command line if you package your apps that way. There you would enter the same password you used when making the P12.

APK is for Android, so I guess you mean an IPA?

If you're using a Mac take a look at this application (it's called BetaBuilder):

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/betabuilder-for-ios-apps/id415348946?mt =12

With that app you can take an IPA file and post it online somewhere, and send the link to the iOS users that are listed in the provisioning file that you used. The recipients can then touch on the link and the app will install straight into their device.

There is an online service, testflightapp.com, that does the same thing as BetaBuilder, only it has additional management tools. You could use that service and upload the IPA file to them, and again your users would be able to install straight onto their devices. It's slightly more complicated, because your users would also have to install a special profile from TestFlight.

When you finally have an app to submit to the App Store you are going to need a Mac to run the Application Loader program, so maybe you should find a friend who has a Mac to help with that.

You can be approved as an iPhone developer in under a day. When you finally come to upload an app to the iTunes App Store it typically takes 8 days from when you submit the app until it is available in the store.

I have received from a client a .p12 certificate without password.

Air packager in flash professional CS6 doesn't let me export without entering something in the password field.

When your client made the P12 file they had to enter a password. Ask them what they used, and that's what Flash wants.

Yeah it was a password free certificate.

I had them to make another one with a password.

Big client, takes days for every little step on their side...

New certificate, works now, submited to app store... fingers crossed

    thanks for the reply

Well, did you try entering no password, but telling Flash to remember that no password?

No matter what, remember or not remember, flash didn't allow me to publish but always popped up "please insert password" or something similar.

I didn't even know it was possible to generate password free certificates.

Anyway, now we know that from within CS6 you can't package ipa's with password free certificates.

Could be worth following iBrent's video on making a P12, there may be a step you missed:

I opened Keychain and selected import. Then I chose the ios_distribution file. It doesn't appear to import. When I look in the Keys section I see my name with a disclosure icon. It shows "IPhone Developer". But this certificate is my personal developer certificate. It has been there before. Is this the distribution certificate or my developer certificate?

You seem to be doing things the wrong way around. Normally you choose export, not import, when making a P12 file.

A distribution certificate will say "iPhone Distribution: Your Name" same as your iPhone Developer cert, but specifically Distribution. When you log in to your the Developer portal, do you see the Distribution tab in the Certificates section?

    DistributionTab.png

You want to create the certificate for Distribution and download that to your keychain. You'll end up with both, iPhone Developer and iPhone Distribution if you've done it right.

If you don't see the distribution tab in your developer portal, then you're not setup to create app store releases. If it's a business account with multiple team members you have to have the Team Agent export the distribution cert for you.
