Level-2 GPU published for IOS and Box2D/WCK    Does this fall under the revenue share requirements?

Mar 29, 2012 9:11 AM

WCK uses the Box2D Alchemy port and therefore uses "Domain Memory".  Part 1 of premium features usage.

Does publishing to "Level-2 GPU" constitute use of Stage3D?  Is this now part 2?

Does our project now fall under the revenue share requirements?

We aren't using Starling or any framework other than WCK.

I wouldn't think Level-2 GPU constitutes use of Stage3D but have to ask.

We would appreciate some clarification from Adobe on this.

No, you explicitly need to use Stage3D. If your framework uses it or not is another question. You'll need to check Box2D and see if it ever mentions Stage3D. If so then you may be using it. Simply selecting L2 GPU is not using Stage3D.

The premium also doesn't apply to mobile (iOS/Android) which is what you

are probably targeting with "Level 2 GPU" (which is a term I haven't

seen before - I'll have to google that) - so you can use Box2D with

Starling if you wanted to, as long as you don't show it off in the browser.

They are not affected, yet. Currently only web-based top level games that use what they term as premium features (domain memory, Stage3D, $50,000+ in profit). Only after your browser or AIR desktop based game exceeds $50,000 in sales do you need to give Adobe 9%, and only if it has been produced after August 1st. So right now it doesn't matter what you do, Stage3D or not, until August 1st.

And you're welcome. Please mark the post as answered if you have your answer! (Just helps us filter out help requests)

That fear and uncertainty may or may not be warrented, but the rules as

they've been layed out are clear. You can use Stage3D with Domain Memory

on mobile, without triggering the premium licensing - even after Aug 1.

You can mark any post as either useful or the answer to your question, look for the buttons on each post.

If you're publishing for mobile devices, just ignore the 9% adobe cost, it doesn't pertain to you. If you finish your payed app before Aug 1st, it doesn't pertain to you either, in any way shape or form.
