...I've got a huge batch of slide scans that I inadvertantely flipped horizontally...now I find there is no keyboard shortcut for flipping an image that way...I use Adobe Audition and there it's easy to reconfigure keyboard shortcuts, not so Lightroom? I'm probably missing something easy, betcha...
...yes, I'm aware of that, it's in the photo menu and very obvious.
But look at the next two operations: Flip Horizontal and Flip Vertical; no keyboard 'cuts. You use the horizontal operation for when you get a slide in the scanner upside-down and, like, the signs are backwards. My question remains: Is there a way for me to *create* a shortcut?

Yes, there is no keyboard shortcut for flip horizontal/vertical. Lr does not let us create our own shortcuts as Photoshop does, so we're stuck with the shortcuts on offer.
But still, you can select multiple photos and flip them all together via the menu. I don't think it's a great impediment for working in Lr - after all, how often do you flip a photo?
Hi Charlie,
You can try going to these links which will be able to help you.....

...OK, that's what I was looking for...as it is I just manually went through 'em and did the deed. Before I got into photography in a heavy way, I was (and still am) archiving live sound recordings in what would be considered the folk art realm...I started with a wonderful program called Cool Edit and transitioned to Adobe Audition with the buyout. In it, I have alot of freedom to set my keyboard the way that fits me, and it'd be a great thing to be able to do the same thing for LR (after all, the thrust of LR is for making operations repeatable, eh?). I will add my shout in the cave, such as it is... Thanks for the attention...

You can in fact define or change keyboard shortcuts for many LR commands. You can edit the file TranslatedStrings.txt and add these two lines:
"$$$/AgLibrary/Menu/Photo/FlipHorizontal/Key=Cmd+Shift+h"
"$$$/AgLibrary/Menu/Photo/FlipVertical/Key=Cmd+Shift+v"
See these links for help in finding and editing TranslatedStrings.txt:

You can also try the LR Keyboard Tamer plugin for easier customization of shortcuts. I've found that it doesn't know about at least a couple of commands, and I don't know if it's been upgraded to LR 4.
