Acrobat X PDFMaker COM addin is NOT windows 7 64 bit compatible by default - fix???

I'm having an issue with the PDFMaker plugin in acrobat X across multiple sites and clients.

 

Common factor is:

Windows 7 64bit

Office 2010 32bit.

 

On ALL machines, the PDFMaker COM addin, whether in Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Outlook will regularly crash the Print Spooler Service (ie it becomes unresponsive). It needs to be PSKilled before it can be recovered.

 

Disabling the COM addins and the systems are perfectly stable until, somehow, the PDFMaker COM addin mysteriously re-enables itself.

 

For Microsoft Excel it re-enables each time Excel is launched.

 

Even if the load behaviour registry key below is set the autoenabling exists

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\PDFMaker.Of ficeAddin] "LoadBehavior"=dword:00000000

 

To preempt useless suggestions:
1 - latest updates installed

2 - users are local administrators

3 - application was installed as the local administrator

 

I'd like to know how to permanently disable the PDFMaker COM addin in all office applications without it ever coming back from Adobe updates.

    May try updating the Windows OS and MS Office as a troubleshooting step  if you have not already done it.

    You don't mention the Service Packs on you Microsoft products.

    You also did not indicate if you updated Acrobat. The early release of AA X did not work well, if at all, with the 64-bit systems. There appear to still be some problems reported, but Adobe had indicated some of the updates were supposed to fix the problem.

    I am having continuous problems of a similar nature.  Starting just today, ALL of the PCs in my office are taking 15 to 20 minutes to create a simple pdf using acrobat x.  Yesterday, everything was moving along quickly, but we 'updated'.  What a joke. 

     

    We are all Windows 7 64 bit.

    All I can suggest at this point is to search the knowledgebase for possible solutions.
