Adobe Audition CS6 sneak peek

Hi everyone,

 

I invite everyone to take a look at a little sneak peek video of Audition CS6 over at http://adobe.ly/H1hDCa

  In this sneak, we show off some of the new functionality implemented for CS6 including Clip Grouping and Automatic Speech Alignment.  (You may have seen some tech demos of the latter at some industry events or online last year.)  Eagle-eyed viewers may find a bit more!

    Saw this on Facebook today. Looks promising!

     

    While I won't spoil the easter egg for others, let's just say I think the notion that "Adobe doesn't listen to their users" is quite demonstrably false.

    "Trim to Time Selection" is very good thinking. If metronome is there does it mean that MIDI is there too?

    Why would you assume that they are related? Cool Edit had a metronome way before any MIDI capability came along - this is merely a restoration of a previous long-standing feature...

    So Adobe gave up midi to do lip syncing ?? wow just wow.

    I'm a long-time AA user with CE/CEP still installed on one of my computers, using AA3 every day for audio production, but I'm buying CS6 first day of release - from the hints being passed along I think Adobe has done it right. My hope is it will leap to the front like CE was in its day.

    Well, I'm still on AA3 which has MIDI...and I've never once used it in the 4 years I've been on that version.

     

    However, the lip syncing would have been a godsend in the mix I was doing today even though it wasn't video.  I had two vocals done at different times and the person who recorded it didn't notice they kept slipping out of time with each other.  If it works as well as the demo, it could have saved me a day of slipping and sliding tracks!

    That makes 4 wows (5 if you count this one).

    Looking closely at that clip I see lots of new buttons, new menu items in the pop-up menu and white triangles in the top corners of the clips - looking forward to more sneak peek videos please.

    The Auto Speech Align looks like a neat tool but its the Group Suspend that got me going!

    I wonder if the Auto Speech Align tool can be used to sync Harmony vocals to a Lead vocal much in the way I use VocAlign stand-alone software.

    It's looking really good , but I'm not sold yet. Have a list of "hope to see's" like an MT view grid and control surface support. But I'm excited by what I have seen so far.

    That's my hope aswell. I'm obviously just guessing here, but the feature likely works by identifying phonemes in the frequency domain, essentially marking "blobs" in the guide track, and then moving the corresponding blobs in the target track(s). If that's the case, then the tonality shouldn't matter, and you'd have VocAlign functionality in Audition. Big win.

     

    I'm also secretly wishing that something cool will happen if you try and align, say, a vocal track to a drum beat... =)
