Dreamweaver Themes

We are now up to version 5.5 of Dreamweaver and there are no preinstalled choices for color themes as other text editors have. Why can't Adobe add this feature? I've found it very hard to find any decent ones to download as well.

Are you talking about CodeView or Kuler?

Either way suggest a feature: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

SnakEyez was discussing color changes for code view. Frankly, there are ways to change the color schema for code in Preferences under Highlighting and Code Coloring.

I think what you may have been asking for is available in File>New>Page from Sample>CSS Style Sheet -- that would be for color themes. For page themes, one can use File>New>Blank Page>HTML and look through the layouts that come with Dreamweaver.

But one of the enjoyable things about making websites is that I get to do a fair amount of art direction. A great place to start is this discussion about contrast. Additionally, I do find that the "webpages that suck" website has great horrid examples of bad design that is fun to laugh at—and not emulate.

Lastly, there are professional designers out there who are selling complete soup-to-nuts fully-designed websites, so if you are in a hurry, you can always purchase their work.

I apologize for being obtuse but, for me, when it comes to code, I don't need anything fancy. I just want to concentrate on the code and the default colors seem pretty logical to me.

SnakEyez has given you the only answer that applies. (Suggestions to Adobe) I think that Adobe has been concentrating on HTML5, Live View and, perhaps, transitioning Flash's Action Script into JavaScript, jQuery and CSS3 as well as preparing to compile apps for iOS and Android more than they have been concerned with cool coding themes.

I only know of sites where individuals have created their own dark code color themes and offer them to anyone who wants them
