Dear All/anyone :-)
I've been doing some testing today with V19, and it seems that the original method for scrolling content, (using 2 layers etc) no longer works
It also seems that I can no longer create any kind of scrollable content that the user can swipe on to navigate to anothre page; IE have a vertical scrolling text on the far right
of the screen, users swipe up and down on the content, but they still need to be able to swipe on the content to move right to the next article.
Currently all I can do is swipe on a non-interactive area to do this.
Any thoughts? is this just V18/19
Cheers
Alistair
Hi Bob
Thanks for the response.
I agree not much point with the old way, but it would be nice if Adobe informed us!
But it didn't used to be like this did it? It makes the pull out tabs, and really any reasonable size MSO very very clunky from a UI perspective, because the user doesn't realise they cant swipe on an interactive area. They just think they have got stuck on the page,
and they think the app is a bit crap if they have to try to find an area that isnt interactive, so that they can swipe to the next article.
This is a big step backwards!
More layout workarounds required!!!!

My apps due to go live end of the week and it's riddled with Scrollable Content layers. From a production point of view I like the old ways, kind of meant that anybody subbling scrolling copy could quite easily do so by isolating that layer. Now they have to rely on story editor because the physical copy is masked. I've yet to start checking the next issue but can I just confirm with you Alistair that this method doesn't work at all? We've had it working on the desktop viewer but as yet not on an iPad?
Hi Mick (it is Mick isnt it)
I'm using V19 and the layer scrolling frames, certainly wasnt working today, I even copied and pasted examples that were in an older App, just n case I doing something stupid, but nope, not working. Have you seen Loop Magazine? its a nice aviation mag, nothing to do with me, but they have a vertical scrolling frame on their welcome page, and I can swipe left and right on it, to nav to the next page, where with current tools the MSO is "dead space" and not swipeable.
Depending on your page layouts, this can leave the page very difficult to navigate away from, .... a real headache.
The last version of my apps for layer scrolling frames, was V18 tools, and they work even though built with V19 folio builder, but not with V19 tools
Can you let me know if "Dead Space" on MSO's would have a negative impact on your layouts?
Cheers
Alistair
One possibility is to create a dummy slideshow in the area that you don't want to be active. The tab area would be active and alide over the dummy MSO, but if you swipe in the dead area, you turn the page. I haven't tested this yet -- I will tomorrow -- but you might want to experiment with dummy buttons (navto current article) or slideshows (two invisible states set to auto play once).
