I have 3D generated animation of a cross-section of a sphere, which is panning across the screen.
I want to add some effects such as glows inside the sphere.
How do I "attach" the effects layer that I produce in AE and have it move and follow the animated sphere exactly. So that I dont have to keyframe the position of the layer/mask wherever the sphere moves?
You need to export some placeholder data from your 3D app that captures the motion, e.g. the AEC export in Cinema 4D or similar features in MAX. Similar solutions exist for pretty much any 3D program these days, sometimes as plug-ins, other times as script collections. Other than that you can always try tracking in AE to follow items...
