lightroom 4 and 5d mkIII

Hi I recently purchased a 5dmk III and after having no luck importing the files into lightroom 3.6 i spoke to someone at adobe and they said I needed lightroom 4. Having purchased that I am still unavailable to import my raw files into lightroom.

Any advice on what I need to do?

    LR 4.1 RC is the first LR version to support the 5DIII.

    The update to LR 4.1 (release candidate) has the support for the 5D mk 111. Or use the DNG converter 6.7 release candidate to convert the raw files to DNG and import the DNG's into LR.

    I have tried updating lightroom but it says this is the latest version. How do I update to lightroom 4.1?

    Release Candidates aren't generally available via update--they have to be downloaded from Adobe Labs.  The top of this forum has details on how to get the RC, but I'll put the link here for you:
