This is really, really dumb. I'm in Illustrator CS5 on Mac OC X 10.7.3. I have a word.
PIPIIonline
I just want to select the "II" and make them Italics, like:
PIPIIonline
but Illustrator will not allow me - no matter what I try to select the two "II" characters. Any suggestions?
Thanks. Rick
Another excellent thought - and one I had not even considered - but it's not that. At this point I've tried a number of different fonts and all have the same problem. In fact not only am I unable to select a couple of characters, but I'm not able to double click to select the whole word. Rick
You';re welcome!
It is a common error and as you see it even went by experience users at first because the feature though useful at times is not used that much and the keyboard shortcut is easy to accidentally invoke.
And I aghree until it happens to you it is something you would probably not know.
Glad that that was the problem.
BTW if you ever need to hide the edges on purpose keep in mind that the text or objects do actually get selected only you can't see it.
The problem happened because Adobe, in their wisdom, decided the default command for the feature is Command-H - which is generally used as the Command-Hide - and is in other Adobe programs. Why Adobe cannot be consistent on Command Keys is well beyond my understanding, especially in this situation when this feature is not commonly used whereas the Hide Application is.
I certainly appreciated the help as it made life much easier. Rick
