Flash 11.2 PlayStateChange event, not "stopping"

Mar 31, 2012 1:47 AM

I posted this in the Flex forum because I didn't know where it should go.  I'm starting to get calls from users who have updated to Flash 11.2 and no longer see video properly.  So, I loaded the 11.2 debug version in FB 4.6.1 to see what's going on.  I'm using the OSMF MediaPlayer, and the MEDIA_PLAYER_STATE_CHANGE event is sending "buffering" when the video is stopped.  The PLAY_STATE_CHANGE event no longer sends "stopped" as an event.playState.  So, it creates a big problem when the video stops, since there is no longer a "stopping' event fired.

What type of asset are you using? live?

If so, I might suggest further reading:

    http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/osmf.adobe/index.php?title=Best- Effort_Fetch

If not, please report an issue to http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FM with details that can help us replicate the situation.

    Thank you in advance,

    S.

Steve:  Have you found anything out?

Flash Player 11.2 seems to have 'broken' my video as well.  I have a live stream (F4M) that works fine for Flash 11.1 and Silverlight, but for 11.2 there is audio but no video.  I have upgraded to the 1.6 release of Strobe Media Playback, but it didn't make any difference.

    Is anyone else experiencing this?

    Scott

No, not fixed and finding even more things 11.2 has broken.  I've filed a bug report FM-1550 but no response yet.

Hi, FM-1550 needs more details. Thank you.

@snaggle2th: can you share the stream or try to play it in http://osmf.org/dev/2.0gm/setup.html ?

    Here's the stream:

I'll have a look at the 'setup' page.

Posted to the setup page with no result (audio, but no video).  Now playing with the parameters in the form...

Tried different values for streamType and enableStageVideo, with no improvement.  Also tried enabling showVideoInfoOverlayOnStart, but didn't seem to work.  Can you suggest changes to any other parameters?

Hi, I looked at the fragment sizes and they are very small (~150 kB). Are you sure that the video is still there?

I mean, video frames inside the fragments, not the asset being online.

I also have the exact same problem on my custom osmf player.

The PlayEvent.PLAY_STATE_CHANGE event doesn't send "stopped", but "playing" and "paused" only.

And also the TimeEvent.COMPLETE doesn't send "complete".

I use this player for receiving videos with HDS f4m streaming video from FMS 4.5.

Where in the source should I check to detect the problem comes??
