There is a known bug regarding font styles being repeated.See this link to see if it is similar:
What are you doing and where do you see this from?
Mac or PC?
OS?

Maybe it's picking the duplicate styles...
My first was my first thought too was dup fonts. Font Book found a few.
This is, however, specific to PsCS6.
but... Time Machine is a good point. I'm not sure how to check on dup fonts in TM. I'm just using (for now) Font Book to organize fonts. It has just been recently (during PsCS6 testing) that I have been getting messages that TM drive is full and needs to overwrite.
Interesting.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I think that this may be being being triggered by the fonts being duplicated in several different Libraries.
On my Mac (OSX 10.6.8), the same fonts were listed in HD/System/Library/Fonts; and in HD/Library/Fonts.
I have now set FontAgent Pro to "Manage System Fonts" and I am no longer seeing duplicated font names in the PS CS6 Font menu.
I have also removed the Asian and Middle Eastern Adobe fonts from the HD/System/Library/Fonts folder and so they no longer appear in the menu and this does not seem to have upset Photoshop in any way.
I do not use FontBook (I emptied and disabled it years ago) so it's not part of the equation here.
______
One problem:
Fonts which work perfectly well in InDesign CS 5.5 (namely the complete and extended set of Minion Pro) will not work in Photoshop CS6 and trigger this error message:
I have discovered where my MinionPro problem was coming from:
The set of ten Minion Pro fonts that are installed in the HD/Library/Fonts folder (which are of 2012 vintage) work correctly in Photoshop CS6 (including the two Condensed faces).
My "complete family" set of 48 faces dates from 2002 and it is the Condensed, Display, Caption and Subhead faces in the 2002 set which trigger the error message both in Photoshop CS6 and in CS5 — although they work perfectly well in both illustrator and Indesign CS 5.5.
I very seldom set type in Photoshop and it was only because I was systematically testing the extended Type families in CS6 that I came upon this anomaly.
It probably isn’t that important, because it is unlikely that many people use Caption, Subhead and Display type-styles in Photoshop but the Bug should be recorded in Adobe’s database.
I hadn’t discovered the problem before this — even though I have had the 48-face Minion Pro family installed on my computers for the past ten years!
I'm not having any font issues but I'll provide a little information to hopefully help with the troubleshooting of the issue.
My system is a Mac Pro OSX 10.7.3 and I've turned off Font Book and Time Machine due to severe issues in the past. Haven't had any trouble since.
In place of Font Book, I use Linotype FontExplorer X. That resolved all of my font problems permanently.
Thanks to Kyoko, we have a script that may help with this issue.
