I needed to add an About Us page to the website. I created the new page from the template and saved it as about_us.htm. I added the page to the menu in the template, and it looks/displays correct. I Saved All, but the new About Us menu tab doesn't display the web pages including the new one. I haven't had to make any changes in a really long time and am having a hard time remembering. I missed a step somewhere. Help! Any suggestions?
Are you familiar with Editable and non-Editable regions in DW Templates and how to use them?
Non-editable are template regions which are the same on all child pages. They're only editable in the main template and the non-editable region on each child page is the same. Perfect for menus.
Editable regions are areas of the template which can be edited in child pages - so they've got different content on every child page.
That's how I thought it worked, but after adding "About Us" to the menu in the template, it's not appearing on the child pages.
So, if I highlight this in the main.dwt:
<div id="topnav" class="brd-thin-white-top brd-thin-white-bottom">
<ul>
<li><a href="../index.htm">Welcome</a></li>
<li><a href="../about_us.htm">About Us</a></li>
<li><a href="../principal.htm">Principal</a></li>
<li><a href="../staff.htm">Staff</a></li>
<li><a href="../information.htm">Information</a></li>
<li><a href="../Principals_Letter.pdf">Principal's Letter</a></li>
</ul>
</div>
Then go to Insert, Template Objects, Make Editable Region, will About Us appear in the menu on the child pages?
I think it would be best for you to copy and paste the code of the template here. Or just the area that is being a problem, with the editable tags if they are editable.
Did you upload all pages that use that template after you made the change?
The use of Server Side Includes is a perfect use for this type of item, but of course, you will have to use an extension that will process the include.
.shtml, .php. asp
When using templates, it changes all your pages that use that template (in non-editable areas) only on the local files, to populate the changes to the remote site, each page that uses the template must be uploaded (put) to the remote server.

When you save your template.dwt page, does DW ask if you want to "update child pages?"
At any point did you move or rename your Template.dwt file? To work, it must be inside your site's Templates folder. If you move it or rename a template.dwt, it will become disconnected from its child pages.
For better answers, we need to see your code from the template.dwt and a child page.
Can you upload them to your server and post links?

Well, there's something amiss, because when i go into Manage Sites it tells me the root folder is not there. But it is there! I have not deleted, renamed, edited, etc. But when I click View, Files there not there! Is this a separate or related issue? I have not uploaded the revised main.dwt, as it does not appear in the files viewer. God, I'm confused.
