Dynamic stamps with digital signatures

Apr 6, 2012 6:58 PM

Does anyone know how to place a digital signature into a Dynamic stamp?

I have tried about everything I know in Javascript with no luck. I have the "Signature" field placed on the stamp but just cann't get it to prompt for a signature. I am not concerned about mantaining the digital signature properties if the signture gets flattened when the stamp is placed that is OK.

I would like the insert signature prompt to come up when the stamp is placed if possible.

Any help would be great.

Why would you want to use a digital signature in a stamp? Since you're aware that fields get flattened. it must be that you want the appearance, correct?

Reader users can make a stamp out of their hand-drawn signature, just like they can set up an appearance for a digital signature that uses their hand-drawn signature. Since the document will be Reader-enabled, they will be able to place their signature as a stamp, or thye could use the pencil tool to draw their signature.

See Stamps Gone Wild at PDFScripting.com. It is probably too complex to post a reply in a form. You have to have a facsimile signature image as a PDF and then make the custom PDF dynamic stamp.

A Digital Signature and Custom Dynamic stamps are 2 very distinct objects.

A Digital Signature uses a Digital Certificate and if used for commercial or legal purposes needs to be verifiable by any user at any time when provided with the appropriate public certificate. A digital signature can also disclose if a PDF was changed after the certificate has been applied.

A Dynamic Custom Stamp is only dynamic until placed, after which the dynamic elements are not alterable. I do not think it is possible to combine the 2 objects and keep all the features of the Digital Certificate.

If you include a Digital Certificate signature to a Dynamic Stamp, the ability to verify the certificate and whether or not the PDF has been changed is lost!

You could create a Dynamic stamp with a facsimile signature image and a date field that is dynamically filled in when the stamp is placed. If you then need a digital certificate you would have to apply that after the facsimile signature stamp has been applied.
