Why will Flash Player NOT install on my computer?

I was trying to install Flash Player 11.  I got, once the installer was downloaded and in trying to open it, the error message that "NOT installed.  Installation errors encountered."  Huh?  NO further explainations, I could only close the installer.  I went to the "Help" page and did the changes recommended.  STILL does NOT work.  I even, foolishly as it turns out, took off ( uninstalled ) Flash Player 10 thinking perhaps it was blocking the installation of Flash Player 11.  Now I can NOT even re- install Flash Player 10.  WTF?

Am using:  Standard OS - Windows XP Professional

Have Browsers - Internet Explorer 8, Google Chrome

Can you post the contents of the FlashInstall.log file in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash ?

Also, try to download the full installers from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#Install_in_a_...
